A new media application called ‘Viggle’ surveys the programs playing on viewers’ televisions and awards each participant roughly two points per minute watched. The points can then be exchanged for gift cards at retailers like Burger King and Best Buy. Users can also earn bonus points for tuning in to specially selected programs like American Idol.
Didn’t we learn just the side effects from such a system on Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror (pictured above)? Oh well.
